   In one sense, we should be grateful that the leader of the cult of the irrational chose to behave irrationally in the face of the threat posed by COVID-19. As the article points out, had Trump chosen to lead the fight against the virus, he could have turned himself into a national hero. Achieving such a status would have drastically reduced Biden’s chances of victory.
   In another other sense, of course, his determination to make the wrong choices – such as repudiating mask wearing – has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans.
